Are You Fearful?

“Are You Fearful?”

April 26, 2020

2 Timothy 1:7 The Voice  You see, God did not give us a cowardly spirit but a powerful, loving, and disciplined spirit.

Valerie and I never purchased or allowed others to give our children books of fear, such as; Things That Bump In The Night.  Why? These book types work against the teaching of Jesus as our Guardian not just our Savior.  We never allowed Halloween celebrations.  Why?  As we read Scriptures to our children, we taught them John 9:5 “Whenever I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.”  Jesus was taught that He was closer than any friend and destroyed the works of the Devil. How?  John 10:10 The Voice reads, “ The thief approaches with malicious intent, looking to steal, slaughter, and destroy; I came to give life with joy and abundance.”  Were we the perfect parents no, but we did strive to protect our children and teach them the power of the Kingdom of God.

So what does mean, “Are You Fearful?”  We are living in strange times, yet who is your shelter?  Read John 1:14 English Standard Version, 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (tabernacled), and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.  Remember in the Old Testament the tent was taken down each day to travel and rebuild at the next destination.  As Jesus came from the Father to dwell among, he has sent the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth.  It is easy to confess that God is omnipotent (powerful), omnipresent (ever present), and omniscient (all knowing).  The task is moving the confession from the mouth to the heart.  Pandemics, war, serious weather problems, and other issues are meant to move God’s people from the couch to their feet, stop being selfish and self-centered.  Consider Ecclesiastes 3:11 English Standard Version He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.”  This is the Ethiopian moment for every believer with a voice (remember Philip)!  Why fear?  I am sure of my next residence, are you?

Blessings!  Pastor Stan
